The woman stands, ridged and unmoving, her eyes glassed over. She’s thinking about the past, something she doesn’t do very often. She shudders every now and again, the tight bun perched perfectly on the top of her head, quivering. The woman stands on the porch outside of her room,  made completely of glass and overlooks the city. She seems to be staring though the people far down below. None of the guards outside disturb her, they never know quite what to do when she gets like this. The seconds tick by. Seconds turn to minutes and minutes to half an hour. Finally the woman blinks and focuses her gaze on the railing of the porch. She turns sharply as though nothing has happened and strides from the room. No one knows what to say. No one knows what to think. So they say and think nothing and follow her. As they’ve always done.
